about me
Hi,
my name is Ante Kozulić.
I have played more than 700 gigs
in the last 12 years.
I will give you tips and advice that will make your gigs much easier, and at the same time, change your mindset when planning gigs.
My mindset as a professional musician has evolved from not worrying about how things will be done, to a stage where everything is being planned ahead, and I can tell you, my gigs are much easier now.
Thanks to my experience, research, and effort, my gigs have become much easier than before, Now, I am helping other musicians, professionals, and amateurs, how to reach that goal faster and easier than I did. I’m always on the look for new, smaller, lighter, and better gear, and how to use it in an easier way.
Easy Music Gig
Easy Music Gig is about small, lightweight, but at the same time quality products from major brands and less known boutique brands that are making fantastic new products every day.
I will also be talking about methods for organizing your cases and gear in the band’s van or car, as well as new gadgets that will ease your gigging and save you time.
Are you a musician who is gigging a couple of times a week during the summer or the weekend warrior who just can’t wait for friday?
Maybe you’re not 25 anymore?
Do you have back problems and can’t carry your Fender Twin to the 4th floor anymore?
Do you just wish your musical instrument’s gear could be lighter and smaller so that it can fit in your car?
Are you a minimalist, like me?
Believe me, when playing on a regular basis, too much gear isn’t your friend! That’s why these 3 parameters are the most important ones!
- Size – the smaller the better
- Weight – lighter is easier to carry
- Quantitiy – you can achieve the same thing
with less components
My background
How on earth did I become a minimalist
I got my first electric guitar when I was 3 years old!
As you can see it was made of plastic.
My first real guitar was a classical guitar my grandfather bought me when I was 13. Actually I wanted a bigger, folk style guitar with metal strings that I’ve seen in the store window the weekend before, but when we came on monday it was sold. I was 13, I couldn’t wait for another to arrive, so we bought the classical one. Of course I changed the plastic strings for metal ones, ‘cause most of my friends had folk style guitars. I’ve always wondered why there was something wrong with the sound of the guitar.
Right away, I started playing and singing, which was the best thing I could have done. The fact that I am a singer, as well as a guitarist is gold. Later on, I bought my first proper folk acoustic and electric guitar and had a couple of bands during collage, but never really played profesionally until I was about 40.
Meanwhile, I was a retail store owner, selling everything related to music : CDs, videos, musical instruments, alternative clothing,…
When I closed my business, I started playing professionally.
My band was a trio at the time and we travelled to our gigs that where far as 100km away, with 3 cars!
At the time we didn’t have active monitors, so we just hauled an extra active subwoofer plus 2 15 inch passive speakers that we had, for monitors. That meant 2 PA’s. There was no planning ahead, never had enough power cables, extra cables of any kind, adapters for DJ’s. Things got messy, more than once.
Over the years, you get an in-depth view of all the aspects of everyday gigging.
In the meantime, I started having back problems, which made me stop and think. How can I make my music gear smaller and lighter? Later on, I realized I can substitute 3 or 4 pieces of gear for 1 piece. Everything became smaller, there was less gear and nowadays there are 4 of us in the band, and everything fits in an old Volkswagen Sharan, including a real drum kit!
I want Easy Music Gig to be a shortcut for all of you, so you don’t have to go through the whole process I went through.
